Students in Key Stage 3 (from Years 7 to 9) follow a tailored version of the English National curriculum and the Mexican SEP curriculum. KS3 students experience fun and engaging lessons which promote curiosity, creativity and collaboration.

Art, Computer Science, Drama, English, French, Geography, History, Maths, Mandarin, Music, Physical Education (PE), PSHE, Science and Spanish.

The Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) programme is based on the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), whilst continuing to meet the requirements of the Mexican curriculum. Students have lots of choices for their optional subjects, as well as certain compulsory subjects. The IGCSE programme is the best preparation for the IB Diploma and is internationally recognised.

The Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13) programme, is based on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This prestigious, academically challenging programme provides fantastic preparation for higher education and beyond. 

The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge. The curriculum is made up of six subject groups and the core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay. Students have a fantastic range of choices of subjects, with far more options than other schools offer. The programme is very successful and our students go on to study in universities worldwide.

IB subject offerings:

Group 1 and 2 – Literature and Language: English Literature, English Language and Literature Spanish Literature Spanish Language and Literature.

Group 3 – Individuals and Societies: Business Management, Economics, Geography, Global Politics, History, Psychology.

Group 4 – Experimental Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems and Societies, Physics, Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences.

Group 5 – Mathematics: Analysis and approaches, Applications and interpretation.

Group 6 – Arts and Optional Subjects: Film, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, Computer Science, French B, French AB Initio, Mandarin AB Initio, Spanish B.

At Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9), all of our students learn English, Spanish, French, mathematics, science, geography, history, historia, geografía, computer science, visual art, drama, music and physical education (PE).

They also have a period a week to study personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE). All subjects are seen as equally important for our students.

In Years 10 and 11, all secondary students study the following IGCSE subjects:

There are different courses within each group and students may wish to study an additional science, individuals and societies, or languages course instead of a course in the arts.

At the Edron Academy, we don’t just teach our subjects; we promote the holistic development of all students and pastoral care is the foundation of everything we do. We ensure that each student feels safe, valued and supported. We care about our students.

All of our teachers are part of our pastoral team, working hard to support students and ensure that they feel emotionally secure and valued for their unique character and abilities. This, in turn, helps them to achieve academic success and prepare for the future.

The Edron House System

The House System is a traditional feature of British schools and helps create a sense of belonging and friendship. Our House system is used to promote healthy competition amongst our students and staff.

Students participate in House events throughout the year. All students have the opportunity to gain House Points for commitment to all areas of school life and for demonstrating our school values. All House Points gained help their house achieve the ultimate recognition of winning the annual House Cup.
