History

Founded in 1963 by Edward Foulkes and Ronald Stech, the Edron Academy (El Colegio Británico, A.C.) was established with a unique vision: to create a learning community in which every child is safe, happy and successful.

Whilst the school has changed location to accommodate increased student numbers, the original vision lives on today in the form of our Edron Values. These continue to be the foundation of our approach to working with young people and are what binds us together as a community.

The Edron Academy is the oldest British international school in Mexico City and is run on a not-for-profit basis. This ensures that all of the school’s funds and energy are dedicated to ensuring that the quality of teaching and learning is always prioritised and of the highest possible quality.

Since its founding in 1963 The Edron Academy has been a unique internationally-minded and progressive school and over the years the school has been proud to be incorporated by the Mexican Ministry of Education as well as being an IB World school since 1995 and a Cambridge IGCSE centre. These affiliations continue to allow the school to provide a rigorous, balanced and internationally recognised curriculum for all of its students.

Accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) in 2014  the school continues to work to the highest international standards and to celebrate the best of its British and Mexican roots.

The Edron Academy is proud of its past, focused on its present and ambitious about its future.
